Increased

Students from marginalized communities may face significant challenges outside of school, such as poverty, homelessness, and/or a lack of access to resources. Stakeholders can help provide support and resources to help students overcome these challenges and succeed in school. Increased family and community engagement can help to build stronger, more connected communities, which can benefit students in a variety of ways both in and out of school.

Quality

Students with special needs may struggle to succeed academically and socially if the necessary interventions and support to help overcome barriers are not in place. Access to a quality exceptional student education program can have a significant impact on students’ long-term outcomes including their ability to graduate high school, pursue higher education, and succeed in life

High

In marginalized school communities, students may have experienced trauma, poverty, discrimination, or other forms of adversity that can impact their social and emotional development. Similarly staff members in marginalized school communities may experience stress and burnout due to the high demands of their jobs and the difficulties in working in under-resourced and disadvantaged environments.. High EI in students and staff can contribute to a positive school climate, academic success, and overall well-being. It can empower individuals to better understand and manage their emotions, develop strategies to cope with stress and adversity, and build stronger connections with others.
